Catalina Velarde was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. She emigrated to the
 
  U.S. as a child and became a U.S. citizen in her teens. Ms. Velarde has  
  dedicated much of her career to the service of immigrant communities.  
  Prior to law school, she worked with entrepreneurs with Limited English  
  Proficiency (LEP). She has counseled individuals on topics including  
  business development,financial management, marketing, and now  
  immigration law. Ms. Velarde received her Juris Doctor from the University of  
  Missouri-Kansas City School of Law,a Master of Business Administration  
  from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelor of Science  
  in International Business Management from (Southwest) Missouri State  
  University. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers  
    Association (AILA) and Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR).
